Explosives seized from Maoist den in Chhattisgarh

Raipur : Security forces in Chhattisgarh have recovered a massive haul of explosives, including detonators and hand grenades, from a forest area bordering Maharashtra, the police here said Friday.

Besides detonators and grenades, troopers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) assisted by the district force late Thursday found other “blast material” like gelatine sticks, wires as well as 200 rounds of bullets from a forest hideout in Rajnandgaon district, about 230 km from here.

“This is the second major recovery of explosives stockpiles of the current week. The explosives were recovered after a tip off from a senior Maoist ultra arrested recently,” Prakhar Pandey, additional superintendent of police of Rajnandgaon district, told reporters.

On Tuesday, a CRPF and state police team seized at least two dozen grenades and a huge quantity of blasting material as well as gun parts from the Kanshiwara forest region in the district.
