LeT Distt Commander killed in Pulwama

Srinagar : Police and Army claimed to have killed a self-styled District Commander of Lashker-e-toiba (LeT) near Chitragam in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

Official sources quoting SSP Pulwama, Nitish Kumar told News Agency of Kashmir that on receipt of specific information about the presence of militants at Manzkhah Chitragam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Zainpora, Pulwama.

An operation was launched by Pulwama Police camp Zainpora, Kulgam Police camp Imam Sahib and troops of 62-RR and multiple ambushes were laid at several places during which an encounter broke out between militants and Police.

During the exchange of fire, self-styled District Commander of LeT outfit Abu Furkan of Pakistan was killed, although an identity card has been recovered from the slain militant which is not reliable, states the name as Gh. Ahmad Reno, son of Mohd Reno, resident of Nowpoch, Marwah Kishtwar.

However, his real identity and involvement in militancy related incidents are being verified, since Furkan was appointed the District Commander just 10 days back after the elimination of Ab Hai Rather alias Kubaib by the Police and had moved to this side Pirpanchal form Doda, he added.

According to SSP Pulwama this was a very successful operation and will dent LET further in the South adding some arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site of encounter. Search operation is still in progress.
