Islamabad : Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday said the Oct 6 Presidential election was an important milestone in political history of Pakistan and President Pervez Musharraf will gain a historic success.
Talking to a group of MNAs including Makhdoom Basit Bukhari, Syed Javed Ali Shah, Syed Muhammad Asghar Shah and Ghulam Murtaza Maitla at the PM House, the Prime Minister said that President Musharraf’s re-election was in the best interest of the country.
He said it will promote democracy and ensure continuity and consistency of policies essential for country’s stability and prosperity.
He said the government was taking all measures to ensure free and fair elections in the country and added that government was engaging all political parties to build consensus on national issues to achieve a stable political environment.
The Parliamentarians updated the Prime Minister on the status of development schemes in their constituencies particularly those relating to the provision of electricity, gas, clean drinking water and construction of roads.
They said that people are appreciative of the development and reform agenda initiated by the government.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Commander (Retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Tariq Javed.
