New Delhi : India’s Tripti Murgunde has stormed into the quarter-finals of the Bitburger Open Grand Prix badminton Championship in Germany.
Tripti defeated Nanna Brosolat Jensen of Denmark 21-12, 21-19 in a pre-quarter-final match Thursday, and will play No.2 seed Yanjiao Jiang of China in the quarter-final, according to information received here.
In the women’s doubles, Indians Shruti Kurian and Jwala Gutta also entered the quarter-finals. They defeated Marie Roepke and Helle Nielsen of Denmark 21-16, 21-17 and will now play against Kathrin Piotrowski and Michaela Peiffer of Germany.
In the men’s singles, India’s Chetan Anand and Anup Sridhar crashed out in the pre-quarter-finals.
Anand lost to Yanbo Qui of China 21-14, 13-21, 17-21 and Sridhar went down to Marc Zwiebler of Germany 12-21, 19-21.
