New Delhi : A speeding Blueline bus Sunday mowed down a group of people crossing a road here killing five women and a man and seriously injuring four others in the worst such disaster blamed on the “killer” fleet.

The tragedy occurred close to Ali village in Badarpur area, sparking violence as angry passers-by stoned the bus and tried to set it on fire, police said.

Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat told IANS that the driver of the bus plying on route 460 had been arrested.

The accident, which the driver said took place because of brake failure, took the number of people killed by the rampaging Blueline buses in the capital this year to 93.
