Corruption overshadows Chhattisgarh government: Uma Bharti

Raipur : President of Bharatiya Janshakti Party Uma Bharti alleged Saturday that corruption had overshadowed Chhattisgarh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and appealed to the voters to “dethrone a government which ditched people”.

“Both the Congress and the BJP set records in misrule and corruption in the state. This BJP government has been overshadowed by corruption,” she said at a thinly attended rally at Gandhi Maidan here.

“Since the state came into existence in Nov 2000, the Congress robbed the state till late 2003 when it conceded power to BJP. Now the Raman government too has let down people because of mass corruption.”

She rejected reports that her party had a poor base in Chhattisgarh and would not be able to challenge Congress and the BJP in next year’s assembly polls.

“My party will offer a perfect choice to people in assembly polls in Chhattisgarh to teach a lesson to both the parties which played with their expectations and feelings,” Bharti said.
