Gaza : Two Palestinian armed groups said Sunday they launched four homemade rockets from northern Gaza Strip at the southern Israeli town of Sderout early in the day.
The armed wings of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) and the Fatah movement led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas claimed their responsibility for the attack in leaflets.
The two groups also told the media that they attacked the Israeli-Egyptian crossing by eight mortar shells.
Salah el-Dein Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), also said in a leaflet sent to reporters that its militants launched eight mortar shells at Kerem Shalom crossing area southeast of Gaza.
One of the mortar shells hit a house in the area, it added.
Israel Radio confirmed the attacks, saying that four homemade rockets were fired from northern Gaza Strip at Israel, which landed near Sderout, causing no injuries or damages.
During the mortar attack, a house was damaged by a mortar shell but no injuries were reported, added the radio.
“The rocket and mortar attacks are a natural response to the daily crimes committed by the Israeli army in the West Bank and Gaza Strip,” the three armed groups said in their leaflets.
The attacks came shortly after the Israeli army announced to lift the closure imposed on the Palestinian territories on the eve of the Jewish holidays two weeks ago.
