WDC holds one day camp at Kishtwar; 300 women participated

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation organised an awareness camp at Kishtwar in which around three hundred women from different walks of life, participated.

Secretary to Government Social Welfare Department NK Verma was the chief guest of the camp, which was organised by district manager Muhammad Ibrahim Shah under the direct supervision of Managing Director of the corporation Nahida Soz.

Addressing the gathering, the MD highlighted the aims and objectives of the camp and educated the women participants to extend maximum financial and moral support to their families by way of earning their own livelihood besides boosting up the status of other women folk in the society.

The secretary, NK Verma, ensured the participants that the department will extend full support for upliftment of drown trodden women. He also ensured the participants to have matching share of the deposits of each society/SHG available through NABARD so that the society is able to set up own income generating units at a larger scale.

District Manager Muhammad Ibrahim Shah said that has been instructed by the corporation to select ladies out of SHGs for Qalamkari and Design Development training.

He further informed that out of the participants two women were also selected for government sponsored tour at Jaipur so that they can interact with prospective SHGs of other states.
