The Frieze art fair, an annual affair which takes place every October at the Regent Park, London, will offer a palette of works of over 1,000 artists from across the globe for visitors to see and buy.

Pooja Sood, director of the Khoj artists association, said it is a matter of great pride that contemporary Indian art will, for the first time, be showcased in the Frieze art fair.

“It is for the first time that contemporary Indian art will be showcased at the Frieze art fair where the works of our artists will stand with some of the well known artists’ works from the world over.

The works to be presented have been selected from the projects that have been curated by Khoj over the last two years, Sood told IANS.

The works of 12 artists will be presented by Khoj at this fair.

The artists whose works will be presented are Bharti Kher, Subodh Gupta, Anita Dube, N. Pushpamala, Sheba Chhachhi, Ranbir Kaleka, Sunil Gupta, Gauri Gill, Shilpa Gupta, Anup Matthew Thomas, Tejal Shah and Ravi Agarwal.

“Khoj always encourages and supports artists who work across a range of media in the public realm.

“The selected projects by artists like Ravi Agarwal and Sheba Chhachhi, for instance, include photographic, interactive open circuit TV and video based works alongside a deliberate low technology based art production,” Sood said.

The works of the artists deal predominantly with the extended ecology of Delhi – a city in rapid transformation.

The artists will also present a limited edition of auto-portraits, a portfolio of 12 self-portraitures.
