Some 150 Argentine soccer fans were arrested Sunday, as strikes from Colombian Radamel Falcao and Ariel Ortega helped River Plate to register a facile win over Boca Juniors Sunday.

Boca’s Ever Banega was given marching orders in the 44th minute after he picked up two yellow cards.

But Rivers’ win was soured by the fact that police arrested some of their fans for breaking drugs laws or parole terms. The police also arrested Boca fans from the La Doce (The 12) hooligans club, when they began fighting over ticket allocations on the away fans’ stand. Sunday’s security operation involved 1,300 officers, a record for such events and around 150 fans were arrested.

Doce’s members had previously fought a week ago in the Argentine city of Rosario, capital of Santa Fe province, where Boca lost 1-0 to rival Rosario team Newell’s Old Boys. Police there arrested Doce’s leader, Mauro Martin, and another Doce member, holding them for three days.

Two months ago, gunmen murdered Gonzalo Acro, a member of River hooligans squad Los Borrachos del Tablon (The Stand Drunkards). Rival Borrachos leaders Alan Schlenker and Adrian Rosseau are also feuding.
