Thiruvananthapuram : Oman Air has decided to join in the Ramadan festivities by distributing free food kits to 800 needy families here Thursday.
Imam Hamsa Moulavi Farooqie will inaugurate the philanthropic function in the presence of representatives of Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman.
M.A. Altaf, chief of the airline, told IANS that each food packet would consist of five kg of rice, and one kg each of sugar and pulses.
“Our officials along with the people’s representative in the village council here have already identified the real needy irrespective of their religion and have given them coupons. They will come with their coupons Thursday and collect their packets,” Altaf said.
This is the second consecutive year Oman Air is organising a food distribution event for the festive Ramadan season.
