Vadodara, Oct 9 (IANS) For the Indian cricket team it’s time for serious business as some of the players headed for a practice session as soon as they arrived here Tuesday for the fifth One-Day International match against Australia.
Former captain Rahul Dravid along with youngsters Rudra Pratap Singh, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Kartik did some light drill at the Reliance stadium under the guidance of fielding coach Robin Sharma and bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad.
Sachin Tendulkar, who failed to take the field during the last match in Chandigarh, was examined by team physio John Gloster.
“Sachin is fit to play. He was assessed by Gloster yesterday and also in the morning today. He is doing fine,” said team manager Lalchand Rajput.
Both teams landed in the afternoon by a chartered flight from Chandigarh. Most of the players decided to stay indoors.
Local hero Irfan Pathan also preferred to stay in the team’s hotel and didn’t go to his home. He was later joined by his brother Yusuf.
Dravid’s wife Vijeta also landed in the evening with their son. A huge crowd gathered outside the hotel to cheer the team.
After winning the fourth ODI in Chandigarh Monday, India have kept the seven-match series alive though they are down 1-2.
