New Delhi : The government announced generous bonuses for non-gazetted employees of the railway ministry Thursday.
Railway minister Lalu Prasad has ensured very attractive pre-Eid and Diwali gifts to ministry employees, said officials.
The union cabinet presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accepted recommendations of the railway ministry and decided to give 70 days’ wages as productivity linked bonus to railway workers.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said soon after the cabinet meeting: “This is the highest-ever productivity-linked bonus paid by the railways so far.”
The bonus will be for the financial year 2006-07 “on the basis of the formula approved by the cabinet in its meeting held on Sep 9, 2000,” said the minister.
“The personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Railway Property Security Force (RPSF) are not included in this scheme,” he added.
