Intelligence agencies must uncover terror groups: CPI-M

New Delhi, (IANS) Intelligence and security agencies must gear up to prevent the growing number of terror attacks and not just try track down the guilty after an incident has occurred, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) said Monday.

Condemning the blast in a multiplex in Ludhiana Sunday evening in which six people were killed and 25 injured, the CPI-M’s politburo said: “It is not sufficient to try and track down the culprits after such attacks are mounted.

“It is more important to identify and uncover the terrorist groups and networks operating within the country and their links abroad. The intelligence and security agencies will have to be geared up for this task.”

It said the terror attacks in the recent days – including at the Ajmer Sharif dargah last week in which three people were killed – showed that there was a “concerted bid by the terrorist network to wreak violence and havoc around the country”.
