Mumbai: The Eid message released by Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) to its supporters declares party’s intention of going national.
Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, president of AUDF is in Mumbai these days and making plans for repeating his successful experiment of Assam elsewhere in India.
The Eid message released on behalf of Maulana Ajmal and mailed to their supporters talks about their plans to contest next Parliamentary elections from other states too. How many and which are the states is not mentioned.
Soon after their success in Assam assembly elections, Maulana Ajmal while talking to this correspondent declared that they wanted to repeat this experiment nationally. Maulana Ajmal was seen travelling to Maharshtra, UP, and Delhi since his victory in Assam.
AUDF is lead by Maulana Ajmal who is a Dar ul uloom Deoband’s graduate and have been associated with Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind for long but party leaders insists that it is not a Muslim party. Two of its ten legislators in Assam are non-Muslims and Maulana Ajmal in interviews make it a point to say that his party stands for Hindu-Muslim unity and here to represent all oppressed and marginalized communities.
It remains to be seen if people fed up with corruption, communalism and capitalism practiced by major parties will throw their lot behind UDF.
