New Delhi : Hero Honda, leading two-wheeler maker in the country, strengthened their presence in the premium market with the launch of their new bike “Hunk” here Wednesday.

“We are looking to strengthen our presence in the premium segment. The Hunk will help us to solidify our position in the premium category,” said Anil Dua, senior vice-president, Hero Honda, here at the launch of the new motorcycle.

The Hunk is an addition to the company’s premium offerings that include CBZ X-treme, Karizma and Achiever.

“We have 52 percent market share in the two-wheeler market. We have also doubled our share in the premium level, which is now around 15-20 percent,” said Dua.

Pawan Munjal, chief executive and managing director, Hero Honda, added that they expect high sales of Hunk in the premium category.

“Our focus on the entry-level 100cc segment remains. We have a large market share in it. But we are also looking at the premium category and Hunk is dedicated to this category,” said Munjal.

The Hunk has a 150cc engine integrated with advance tumble flow induction (ATFI) technology, which delivers a balance of fuel efficiency and power.

The motorcycle would be available in two variants and will carry a price tag of Rs.55,000 for the kick-start model and Rs.57,000 for the self-start model.

The bike will be available in four colours – black, blue, red and silver.

Dua added that the festive season would see a revival of the market, which is on the down due to high rates of bank interest.

“We grew by 5 percent in the last month. This month also I see some signs of growth,” said Dua.
