Dhaka : Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh caretaker government Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury has said Bangladesh fully backs the initiatives of special envoy of the UN Secretary General Ibrahim Gambari in bringing about an amicable solution with regard to the current situation in Myanmar.
“We are pleased that Gambari has been able to engage all sides in his dialogues. He is currently consulting with Myanmar neighbours. I also had an opportunity to discuss with him in New York recently,” the foreign adviser said speaking to the media Tuesday.
Dr Iftekhar said that he has confidence on Gambari’s capabilities and wished his mission’s success.
He also reiterated that peaceful efforts should receive highest international priority in stabilizing the situation in Myanmar.
