Yangon : Myanmar ruling junta formed a commission Thursday to draft a new constitution, Radio Myanmar reported in a night broadcast.
The formation is to reflect the continuation and the future completion of the government’s seven-step roadmap to democracy, said an official announcement.
Chief Justice U. Aung Toe chairs the 54-member commission and Attorney-General U. Aye Maung is a vice-chairman. The remaining members include two ministers – Information Minister Brigadier-General Kyaw Hsan and Cultural Minister Major-General Khin Aung Myint.
