Jammu : In a reflection of the ongoing bonhomie between Indian and Chinese troops along their common frontier, Indian troops hosted a delegation of Chinese army officers on the Line of Actual Control in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.

“In continuation of the process of joint interaction between Indian and Chinese armed forces, a delegation of officers from both the armies met at Chushul sector in eastern Ladakh recently,” said a spokesperson of the army here Saturday evening. He did not specify the date of the meeting.

Brigadier Surinder Singh of Chushul garrison received the Chinese at the Zero Line. The two sides agreed to jointly work for “maintaining peace and tranquillity on their respective sectors”, the spokesperson said.

The Chinese were also treated to a cultural programme by the troops of Chushul garrison. The military pipe and jazz bands of both countries played foot-tapping music. At the end of the meet, both sides exchanged gifts to commemorate the occasion.

The friendly interaction between the two border forces has played a significant role in promoting and strengthening bonds of friendship, mutual trust and confidence between the two armies.

This was one of the four meetings the two sides hold every year. These meetings are part of the agreement worked out by the two nations in 1996, according to the spokesperson.
