Atwal misses cut on Nationwide Tour

Chattanooga (Tennesse) : India’s Arjun Atwal missed the cut narrowly by one shot in the Chattanooga Classic at Black Creek on the Nationwide Tour, considerably reducing his chances of having a shot of getting into the top-25.

He is likely to need to go to Qualifying School to look for his 2008 PGA Tour card.

Atwal tied for 66th Saturday and totalled three-under 141 for two rounds and the cut came at four-under. The top 65 and ties made the weekend rounds.

Ron Whittaker (68), who lost in a play-off at WNB Golf Classic in Texas last week shot his 10th consecutive under-par round for a one-stroke lead going into the final round.

Whittaker had five birdies and one bogey in perfect conditions at Black Creek Club.

Henrik Bjornstad, Stephen Gangluff and Nicholas Thompson are all tied for second one shot behind Whittaker.
