According to the Commission sources, M.V. Joshi has been appointed the collector in the southern district of Valsad.

Wabang Zamir has been appointed the superintendent of police (SP) in the northern district of Patan, Archana Shivhare as the SP for Rajkot (Rural) and Amit Vishwakarma as the SP of Vadodara (Rural).

The poll panel has also ordered that SP (Surat Rural) K.G. Bhati will also function as SP (Tapi).

The commission reportedly rejected the names of officers suggested earlier by the state government for the four posts.

It had earlier directed the state government to remove the four officers from their respective posts ahead of the polls.

The commission ordered transfer of nine officials in the state, including that of the police chief, after announcing the elections to the legislative assembly, stating that they would not be posted on any election duty.

Meanwhile, a team of three special observers was expected to go to Gujarat Tuesday for a three-day visit. It will supervise observance of the model code of conduct by various political parties.
