Senior Police Inspector K. T. Sonawane told IANS that the unidentified robbers came to the petrol pump at about 9.30 a.m. in a Maruti car and accosted the petrol pump cashier and his assistant who were going to deposit the money in a bank.

The robbers threatened them with a cleaver and a razor and snatched the suitcase containing the money from them before speeding off in the car.

Oshiwara is a densely populated area with heavy traffic movement at all hours. Observers were surprised that the robbers managed to escape in the four-wheeler without getting stuck in a traffic jam.
