B.R. Kundal to become Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary

Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday appointed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) B.R. Kundal as the state’s new chief secretary.

Kundal was chosen for the top bureaucratic post of the state during a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1972 batch, Kundal will be taking over the post from C. Phonsung who retires Oct 31.

Kundal is the first scheduled caste officer to make it to the top administrative post in the state.
