Fatah forces arrest 20 Hamas members in West Bank

Gaza : Islamic resistance movement Hamas said Wednesday President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah security forces have detained 20 members of the movement in different West Bank areas.

The group said in a leaflet sent to reporters that the security forces stormed houses in the towns of Jenin, Tulkarem, Nablus, Ramallah and Hebron, and detained 20 Hamas members.

After Hamas forcibly took control of the Gaza Strip, Abbas had sacked Hamas government and outlawed its police force, known as the ‘executive force’, as well as its armed wing al-Qassam Brigades.

Fatah had accused rival Hamas of detaining dozens of its cadres in the Gaza Strip, torturing them, and keeping them under inhuman conditions in security forces jails.

Meanwhile, Palestine security sources and eye witnesses said Israeli army Wednesday detained five Palestinians, said to the members of the Islamic Jihad Movement, in central West Bank.
