President to inaugurate Lake Conference in Jaipur

New Delhi : President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the 12th World Lake Conference in Jaipur on Monday.

Environment experts from around the world will attend the World Lake Conference – named Taal 2007. The conferences have been held every two years since 1985 under the aegis of the Japan-based International Lake Environment Committee (ILEC) Foundation.

“They will discuss ways in which lakes can be conserved,” an official statement said.

This is the first time that the conference is being held in South Asia.

Patil, who leaves for Jaipur Sunday, will return to Rashtrapati Bhavan Monday.

This will be Patil’s first visit to Rajasthan as president. She was the state governor for two years. Patil was elected president this July.
