Chandigarh : The Punjab government Monday announced that a world-class professional university, the Guru Granth Sahib World University, would be set up in the Sikh holy city of Fatehgarh Sahib.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said the university at Fatehgarh Sahib, 50 km from here, would be set up to impart hi-tech quality education on par with renowned educational institutions across the globe.
He said that the university would be set up by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) – the mini-parliament of Sikhs.
The university will house faculties of emerging technologies, basic sciences, management, social sciences, arts, languages, engineering, architecture, law and social justice.
