Redknapp is enjoying his second spell as manager of the football team and led the side to its highest ever finish in the top flight last season when they were in ninth place.

The 60-year-old was delighted to put pen to paper on a new deal that will ensure he stays at Fratton Park until 2011, a reward for the team’s fine start to the season.

Redknapp first took charge at Fratton Park from March 2002 until November 2004, and then again from December 2005, a season in which the club narrowly avoided relegation.

He has been in charge for 197 Portsmouth games, winning 87 and losing 64. At the Premiership level, he has been victorious in 44 out of 124 outings.
