New Delhi : The Indo-US nuclear deal is a “honourable agreement” and the delay in its implementation does not mean the “end of the road”, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Tuesday.

“Efforts are on to evolve broad-based national consensus (on the deal). In a democracy we have to take everyone along,” Manmohan Singh said at a joint press conference with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Alluding to the standoff between the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and its Left allies over the deal, he said: “We have run into some problems domestically. We are trying to resolve them. We are committed to see that this process is carried forward.

“The 123 agreement we have done with the US is an honourable agreement, which is good for India, good for the world and for non-proliferation.”
