New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Monday directed Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss to sign the degrees of 49 students of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) within 24 hours.
Justice Ravinder Bhatt directed Ramadoss, who is also AIIMS president, and institute director P. Venugopal to coordinate with each other for the better interests of the students. Earlier during the hearing, the judge observed that the “two them of them had ruined the institute”.
The certificates of the students are to be flown to Chennai Monday evening with the signatures of the director, dean and registrar of AIIMS to obtain the sign of Ramadoss, who is currently on an official visit to the Tamil Nadu capital.
The degrees would be brought back Tuesday and then be given to the students.
The court has recognised Sandeep Aggarwal as de facto registrar of AIIMS only for signing the degrees.
The court also said that senior students who require their degrees urgently may approach AIIMS authorities for immediate issuance of their certificates.
