Tehran : Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed Monday his country would never succumb to any intimidation over the nuclear programme, and said Tehran would use “wise” methods to defeat Western powers, state media reported.
“Iran has never launched aggression in the past 28 years. The Iranian people would not bend to any intimidation over the nuclear issue and would resist intimidation,” the state radio quoted Khamenei as saying to some students he met.
“We will use wise measures to defeat the arrogant powers,” he added.
Khamenei made the remarks just days after US President George W. Bush warned that Iran’s continued nuclear programme could spark a “nuclear holocaust” in the Middle East.
Iran’s President Ahmadinejad said last week that Iran was already a “nuclear country” and more than 3000 centrifuges had been running for the country’s nuclear programme.
The UD has never ruled out the possibility of a military attack against Tehran’s nuclear facilities.
Western media recently reported the US had a plan ready on table to destroy Iran’s military capability in three days if Tehran doesn’t halt its nuclear programme.
