Malaysia beat Japan in Asia Cup

Chennai : Malaysia continued their aggressive campaign in the BSNL Asia Cup hockey tournament here as they easily beat Japan 2-0 in a pool match Tuesday.

Malaysia went ahead in the very first minute through a goal by Ismail Abu. The second goal came in the second half, in the 41st minute, from captain Azlon Misron.

Malaysian goalkeeper Kumar Subremaniam was named the Man of the Match for his miraculous saves that led the team of the victory.

Unless Malaysia lose 0-6 to Pakistan in their next Pool A tie, the latter will now play only for placings.
