As part of the programme titled ‘American Days’, US embassy officials interacted with visitors and answered their queries relating to visa issues, education in the US universities and tourism packages.

Books, journals and other exhibits related to America were on display, which drew huge crowds. American Jazz group Rhythm Road was slated to perform Wednesday evening in Lucknow University.

The programme is organized as part of the embassy’s plans to establish closer rapport between US officials and Indian cities other than the national capital.

“In the 60th year of India’s independence, we decided to observe ‘American Days’ in Lucknow, because it is the capital of the country’s most populous state,” Adnan A. Siddiqui, the counsellor for cultural affairs at the US embassy, told IANS here.

Representatives from US embassy’s visa department, American Centre, American Library, United States Agency for International Development, American Institute for Indian Students and SPAN magazine are participating in the event.
