Algerian car bomb toll touches 28

Algiers : At least 28 people were killed and over 60 injured when a car bomber detonated an explosive device near a military barrack in Dellys, east of capital Algiers, Algeria’s APS news agency said Saturday quoting hospital sources.

The incident took place 100 km from the capital. Earlier reports had put the death toll at 19.

The attack came two days after a terrorist attack in the eastern Algerian city of Batna claimed 22 lives and injured 107.

The attacker had detonated the bomb Thursday amid a crowd waiting for President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to arrive. Bouteflika was not at the scene when the bomb was detonated.
