Dhaka : All colleges in Bangladesh’s six major cities, including Dhaka, reopened Saturday after an unrest-prompted closure on Aug 22.
The government made an announcement Thursday asking the colleges in the six cities to reopen Saturday. The government on Sep 3 also asked the public universities in these cities to decide their reopening date.
Unrest started on Aug 20 in the Dhaka University campus after a quarrel between an army personnel and some students. Later, the unrest spread to other places in the country.
One person was killed and several hundreds wounded during the three-day countrywide violence.
The caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed had declared curfew on Aug 22 and closed all the universities and colleges in the six cities.
