Tehran : The Iranian government is not favour of offering gasoline on a ‘free’ price.
According to government spokesman, Gholamhossein Elham President Ahmadinejad had reiterated his stand on the matter.
Elham, who was visiting a government body responsible for distributing intelligent cards to control the consumption of gasoline, said the program of rationing gasoline is ‘valuable and laudable’.
Stressing that the government’s current policy is not offering gasoline on a ‘free’ price, Elham said, “Instead, we must do our best so that more cars could run on both gasoline and gas.”
Elham appreciated people for decreasing the consumption of gasoline and said after the implementation of rationing scheme, 30 million litres of gasoline has been saved daily and the government intends to build 700 klm of railway using the funds earned by reduction of gasoline consumption.
