Jeddah : Former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in the Saudi city Monday afternoon after he was deported from Pakistan upon his return home from exile, airport sources said.
An official from the Royal Palace Department met Sharif at the airport, the sources said.
Sharif spent less than four and a half hours in Pakistan before he was taken to Jeddah. He had landed at Islamabad airport earlier Monday on a flight from London.
Sharif had returned to Pakistan from a seven-year exile to lead opposition to President Pervez Musharraf, who ousted him in a 1999 military coup.
