Blueline toll in capital rises to 81

New Delhi : One more person was Wednesday killed by a Blueline bus, taking the toll this year of such killings in the capital to 81.

Anwar Ahmad, 55, was crushed under the wheels of a bus, plying on Route No 717 between Badarpur and Aaya Nagar, after it hit his motorbike from behind in Badarpur area.

Ahmed, a tailor in a garment factory in Gurgaon, is survived by his wife and five children – three daughters and two sons.

“Ahmed was going towards Gurgaon, when the speeding bus hit him from behind. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” said a police officer.

Police said driver of the killer bus managed to flee from the spot.

In a recent interview with IANS, Delhi Police chief Y.S. Dadwal said taming errant Blueline buses was not his “priority”.

“We can’t monitor every single Blueline bus plying on Delhi’s roads. Over five million vehicles travel in the capital daily and we have other important traffic related priorities to look after. Managing the vehicular flow and prosecuting law offenders is more important,” Dadwal had said.
