Ahmedabad : Man Industries (India) Ltd has become the first Indian company to produce 18-metre long pipes in India with the commissioning of a new production line for H-Saw Pipes at its Anjar plant in Kutch, Gujarat.

The mill has started shipment of the pipes to an American firm, which has placed an order worth $225 million. H-Saw pipes have applications in oil and gas industries for high-pressure transmission of gas, crude oil and potable water. The long pipes are also used by power generating companies.

The Kutch plant was commissioned in 2005 for manufacturing pipes and coatings. The Anjar plant is the second manufacturing facility of the company, the other being located at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. The company has a total installed capacity to manufacture over 2,500 km of line pipes with coatings every year.

According to K.G. Mantri, senior vice-president, corporate affairs, the new production line entailed a capital expenditure of Rs.750 million. Another expansion at Anjar is underway, which is expected to start production in December.

The company’s stocks are listed in Indian stock exchanges, besides DFIX, the Dubai stock exchange. Its bonds are listed on the Singapore stock exchange.
