Ranchi : Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand have killed seven members of competing groups in two separate incidents, indicating intensifying power struggles within various groups.
In the first incident in Barwadih village Latehar district, 120 km from here, suspected activists of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) abducted four supporters of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Thursday night and killed them with sharp edged weapons.
Describing the incidents as an outcome of the struggle amongst Maoist groups, police said TPC members were the victims in the second killing in Bano jungle of Simdega district, about 130 km from here.
Three people said to be supporters of TPC were killed by Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT).
Maoist rebels are active in 16 of the 22 districts of the state. Nearly 950 persons including 284 security personnel have been killed in last six years in Maoist related violence.
