Kolkata : Even as Sania Mirza remains uncertain for the Sunfeast Open tennis tournament, the organisers announced three wild cards for the main draw that includes talented Kyra Shroff.

Sunfeast tournament director Jaidip Mukherjea said here Friday: “The three wild cards for the main draw are Tara Iyer, Kyra Shroff and Sunitha Rao.”

“The two wild cards for the qualifiers are Aishwarya Srivastava and local girl Shivika Burman,” he added.

Asked for an update on Sania Mirza’s wrist injury, he said: “She has not touched the ball ever since her return from the US Open. She is taking complete rest. She will arrive here Sunday and then take a call.”

Anirban Das Blah of Globosports, the tournament’s promoters, said, “Its not that Sania has decided to pull out. She is as eager as anyone else to play.”

He also praised Shroff, who turns 15 this October, saying she has real talent. She is a juvenile diabetic and has shown enormous potential despite the illness.

French lass Marion Bartoli, who is ranked 10th in the latest WTA rankings, could be the top seed, ahead of Slovak Daniela Hantuchova who is ranked 12th.

Meanwhile, the first casualty of the Open was recorded when Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand, ranked 78th, withdrew due to an injury and would be replaced by Czech Hana Sromova, ranked 115th in the world.
