With the induction of two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the daily direct flight service on both the sectors will commence from Oct 5, 2007.

Port Blair will be the 16th destination that SpiceJet will be flying. With expansion of its network, the airline will be operating 96 flights daily.

Announcing the new sectors, Siddhanta Sharma, executive chairman, SpiceJet Ltd, said, “We at SpiceJet aim to make travelling more accessible and affordable for the majority of travellers. Looking at the limited flight service and witnessing the rising number of tourists travelling to Port Blair, we aim to fill this gap by connecting Port Blair to Chennai and Kolkata.”

“We are delighted with customer response and the confidence that loyal customers and travel agents have shown in us, enabling us to fly to newer destinations. The recent Travel Agents Federation of India Award, which was conferred to SpiceJet for being the most successful low-cost carrier in the country endorses our commitment to provide the best services to our customers,” he added.
