Bhubaneswar : Heavy rains lashed parts of Orissa overnight and on Saturday, paralysing life in many cities and flooding roads.
Hirakud town in Sambalpur district witnessed the highest rainfall, 12.5 mm, Friday, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological office told IANS.
The beach resort town of Gopalpur and state capital Bhubaneswar witnessed 12 and 11.6 mm of rain respectively, the official said.
The rain is continuing unabated and would continue over Sunday, the official predicted.
Traffic has almost come to a standstill in several places in Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar with roads waterlogged.
