New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was doing well after he underwent a prostrate surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here Saturday, doctors said.
A team of doctors led by N.P. Gupta, head of the department of urology at AIIMS, conducted the operation to treat benign enlargement of the prostrate.
According to a source in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), no visitors were allowed to meet him Saturday and the same restriction will be in place Sunday as well.
“Only family members have been allowed to meet him,” a PMO official told IANS.
“He had soup and khichdi for dinner. Doctors say he is doing well,” he said, adding his cabinet colleagues sent him “get well soon” messages.
Manmohan Singh has been advised two days of post-operative rest at the hospital. He will return home Monday, an official statement said.
