Speaking to reporters Tuesday, he replied to a question whether reduction in the pace of uranium enrichment as pointed out in IAEA Chief Mohammd El Baradei’s report has a political or technical reason, he underlined that “We continue our activities as planned.”

“We should let the IAEO continue its activities according to its schedule and time-table,” he said.

“If the West is honest in what they say, they should support agreements reached between Tehran and IAEA,” he said.

On the possible return of Iran’s nuclear dossier from the UN Security Council to the IAEA, he said the Western countries in the past three years claimed that they would resolve remaining issues according to a time-table.

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana agreed in their last meeting to draw up a Modality Plan which was fortunately prepared sooner than expected (less than two months).

“We have an extensive work plan with IAEA and next week we are to discuss how the IAEA should supervise Natanz nuclear facilities,” he said.

The issue of contamination of centrifuges P1 and P2 is on the agenda and is to be studied in due time, he said.

“If the Western countries are honest, they should back the programme to enable us to pursue the programme away from political propaganda and media fuss,” he said.
