58 percent of Indians want Ganguly as captain

New Delhi : Most of the Indians wants Saurav Ganguly back as the captain of the Indian cricket team.

58 percent of over 30,000 respondents in a NDTV opinion poll conducted via its website and SMS in the four metros, voted for the ‘Prince of Kolkatta’ to be Rahul Dravid’s replacement as captain of both Test and One-day International (ODI) teams.

Only 20.3 percent felt master blaster Sachin Tendulkar should succeed Dravid, while 21 percent said wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni should be given the responsibility.

Clear choice for the ODI captain was Ganguly, who got 49.3 percent of the votes; 27.9 percent were in favour of Tendulkar, while 22.8 percent approved of M.S. Dhoni.

For Tests too, Ganguly was the popular choice for captain, with 48.4 percent of the respondents batting for him, while 30.4 percent said Sachin was the right person and Dhoni polled in 21.2 percent.
