Through the expedition, retired Havaldar Nathi Prasad Nainawal hopes to spread the message of brotherhood, revive the memory of those who fought for the country’s freedom, and step up the fight against corruption.

Senior officers of the Western Command flagged off the expedition from Chandimandir, seven km from here, Monday. The expedition has been undertaken when the command is celebrating its diamond jubilee.

“I want to spread the message of brotherhood and nationalism,” Nainawal, a former paratrooper, said before embarking on his journey.

At Jaipur, retired soldiers Ramachander Rao of Maharashtra and Antony Jose of Cochin will join Nainawal and the trio will then proceed to Goa. Rao and Antony had earlier begun similar journeys from Thane near Mumbai and from Cochin.
