Dhoni named ODI captain; Pathan, Harbhajan back in squad

Mumbai : Mahendra Singh Dhoni was Tuesday named India captain for one-day internationals (ODIs) against Australia and Pakistan, while Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh staged a comeback for the first three matches against Australia starting Sep 29 in Bangalore.

Dhoni replaces Rahul Dravid, who made himself unavailable for captaincy to concentrate on his batting.

Announcing the 15-member squad here, Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah said that Yuvraj Singh would be the vice-captain.

Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar and Munaf Patel, who all were part of the ODI team that toured England recently, were dropped the first three games against the visiting Australians, who are scheduled to play seven ODIs.
