The military wing of President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) made the remarks in a joint statement one day after Israeli security cabinet declared the Gaza Strip an “enemy entity.”

The two factions said they will not stop resistance until an independent Palestinian statehood is established with Jerusalem as the capital and the refugees are brought back home.

In addition, they claimed responsibility for launching a home-made rocket into southern Israeli city of Sderot, defying an Israeli pledge to reduce fuel and power supplies to Gaza as long as the rocket attacks go on.

On Wednesday, Israel’s security cabinet declared the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip an “enemy entity”, paving the way to impose economic sanctions as a response to the rocket attacks against southern Israeli communities.

Last week, a rocket hit an Israeli military base near the Gaza Strip, wounding over 60 soldiers in the attack.

The attack then sparked calls for the government to take harsh response against the Gaza Strip, which has been under the control of Hamas since it violently took over the enclave in mid June.
