Panaji : A three-day FIFA course for referees and match commissioners started in Goa Saturday with over 60 Indians learning the finer points from an international faculty.
Fifteen match commissioners, 10 referee instructors, 43 referees and assistant referees are attending the course at the Majorda Beach Resort.
The faculty consists of Rene Eberle from Switzerland, John Baker from England and Mohammed Naziri from Malaysia, according to the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Mohammed Muhiseen Arif from the FIFA Development Office in Colombo is the course coordinator, said AIFF general-secretary Alberto Colaço.
AIFF president Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, who was present at the opening function, said this course was one of the steps that AIFF was taking prior to the launch of the Professional League in November.
