Talking to reporters Togadia said, Karunanidhi’s comments on Lord Ram had “severely” hurt the sentiments of Hindus all over, and so the chief minister had violated the provisions of the Indian constitution.

He claimed Karunanidhi could be booked under section 296 of Indian Penal Code.

The VHP leader said as many as 1,000 FIRs were ready to be filed Monday in different police stations in the country.

VHP would organize a 15-day long march across the country from Sep 27, demanding the scrapping of the Sethusamudram project.

He insisted the proposed project would not only affect the ecology and character of the sea, it would also adversely affect the livelihood of the fishing community.
